God drips provision for us.

Psalm 65:11 NKJV
You crown the year with Your goodness,
And Your paths drip with abundance.

A friend posted this verse this morning & said that it was a word for 2025… It really jumped out at me, so I decided to dig in. Here are the Hebrew definitions with my comments following.

You Crown – to surround, encompass, to crown, encircle (for attack or protection)
The year – as division of time, as measure of time, as indication of age, a lifetime (of years of life), a year
With Your goodness – good, pleasant, agreeable, (to the senses, to the higher nature),
good, excellent, rich, valuable in estimation,
good, appropriate, becoming,
good, kind, benign,
a good thing, benefit, welfare, prosperity, happiness, bounty
And Your paths – entrenchment, track, circumvallation (trench dug around an enemy encampment so they can’t flee), track, going path, way (like a wheel)
Drip – to trickle, drip
(Qal) to trickle, drip, distel, drop (down)
(Hiphil) to trickle

With abundance – fat ashes (ashes of sacrifices), fatness, of fertility, of blessing (fig.), abundance

God surrounds our days with the benefits of His provision – Welfare, prosperity, happiness & bounty. His ways – paths – the way He operates, drips with blessings & abundance towards us.

The tense in ‘Drip” here is Qal – Imperfect. And what this means is that it’s an action that is continuous, incomplete or open ended. It’s not a single action – but a continuing process. So, this ‘imperfect’ has more to do with how it took place than when it took place.

What this means for us is that God is continuously dripping His abundant provision of blessings towards us. It hasn’t stopped – & it never will.

“Paths” – is from the root word to roll or revolve – which seems appropriate since we often see God represented in Hebrew poetry as riding on a chariot of clouds. So the thought here is of abundance – plenty & peace are on His track.

I think we can see the certainty of the blessings in the next 2 verses –

Psalm 65:12-13 NKJV
12 They drop on the pastures of the wilderness,
And the little hills rejoice on every side.
13 The pastures are clothed with flocks;
The valleys also are covered with grain;
They shout for joy, they also sing.

The wilderness in this area of the world is different from what we would think of in our country. The wilderness is a barren, uncultivated place of rock & sand that was thinly inhabited. But occasionally there would be valleys or places watered by springs & these areas would provide for flocks & herds. These are the pastures of the wilderness. These areas would seem luxurious in contrast to the barren places…

And I think it’s a picture of God coming in and just blessing us abundantly in our wilderness areas.
The meadows clothing themselves with flocks & the valleys decking themselves with grain …
I think this shows how the land produces abundantly for both man & animals. It’s a rich harvest that is God’s provision. The picture is of abundance so grand that the landscape is literally covered with it – & it brings joy to the hills & the valleys.

This is how our God ‘drips’ provision for us – it’s so grand & so marvelous! It seems that it really is an overabundance.
I’ll receive this for 2025.

Blessings Friends –
Kimberly
