Grace and Peace

Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord

Have you ever wondered – how do I get more peace in my life? Or how do I receive what God has promised to give me? Grace and peace are multiplied to us in the KNOWLEDGE of God and Jesus.

What is Grace? Grace is God’s provision for man’s every need. Grace is God reaching out to man and supplying for his every need and giving us the power to receive it. It’s undeserved favor so it can’t be earned. It’s given freely by God. Grace is Jesus according to John 1:14 – And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. Jesus is grace and Jesus is truth. So, Jesus is the means that all of our provision and the means to receive it comes through. If you’ve received Jesus as your Lord and Savior – then all of God’s provision for you is your. You just need to learn how to receive it – not strive to get it.

What is peace? According to the BLB, these are some of the usages of peace in the word:
*a state of national tranquility, exemption from the rage and havoc of war, peace between individuals, i.e. harmony, concord, security, safety, prosperity, felicity, (because peace and harmony make and keep things safe and prosperous).
*of the Messiah’s peace, the way that leads to peace (salvation).
*of Christianity, the tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and content with its earthly lot, of whatsoever sort that is.

We can see from this that peace can be many things, from the assurance of salvation to safety and prosperity.

Before we get into the meat of this message I’d like to give you another little tidbit on grace and peace. I’ve noticed that we often see them together in the bible. That’s because they go together and we can be assured that if we don’t have peace, we’ve left grace.

What we really need to realize after learning the definitions of grace and peace is that this is all multiplied (literally multiplied or abounded) to us THROUGH the knowledge of our God.

Which then begs the question, what is knowledge?

I like looking definitions up in the original Greek or Hebrew and not assuming that I have a handle on them. Sometimes in looking them up, scripture is broadened and I’m able to see so much more than I did before. So, back to Knowledge. It’s precise and correct knowledge, used in the NT of the knowledge of things ethical and divine. It’s the recognition, full discernment, acknowledgement, in this case of our God. There’s natural knowledge and also revelation knowledge. Revelation knowledge comes directly from God to you. it’s when you hear God. And you know when you’ve heard God because your faith can’t be swayed from what He’s told you. (Romans 10:17 – Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God)

Now the question becomes how do we get to know God? I think there’s a few ways that we can get to know God. This is not an exhaustive list, just a short list of important avenues.

One means of getting to know God’s character is by studying the names of God in the word. The names of God reveal who He is.

Read and meditate on the word of God. Not only will this transform you (your character) by the renewing of your mind, but it will also help you to see God’s heart for you and everything that He’s provided for you through Jesus.

We can also come to know God by taking a good look at how He’s interacted with us, looking at prayers that He’s answered for us and the provision that He’s provided, His forgiveness of us for our sins and even what He’s saved us from. This helps us to get a handle on His love, faithfulness, mercy, and forgiveness of us. It helps us to trust Him.

Prayer. It’s essential as it helps us to grow in our walk. There are many different kinds of prayer and Ephesians 6:18 tells us that we are to pray always with all kinds of prayer. Prayer is what enables us to get God’s will for us done on the earth. When we pray for the desires of our hearts we can know that God is the one that puts those desires there and wants to fulfill them.

We also get to know God through praise, worship and thanksgiving. The word says that we enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise. These things usher us into the very presence of God. There’s no better place to be in my opinion.

It’s walking through life with Him, following Him, being obedient to Him. So we basically come to knowledge of God through a vital, vibrant relationship with Him. Then, through this relationship with Him, grace and peace will be multiplied to us.

Isn’t that beautiful?!? ❤❤❤
